Infection Control

v-perfectSmile4.jpgAs you are aware, there is a growing concern in the United States about the transmission of infectious diseases. This office is in total compliance with the regulations mandated by OSHA, CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and The American Dental Association for Infection Prevention and patient safety. To reduce your concern about infectious disease transmission, let us explain our Sterilization Protocol which meets, or exceeds, compliance regulations:

  • Each dental unit’s water lines are tested quarterly for microbial counts. The results are recorded in an East Alabama Dental Group, LLC ledger.
  • Instruments are placed in cassettes for safe handling.
  • Heat-sensitive items are disinfected in a cold sterilization soak for 45 minutes.
  • Patient instruments (in cassettes) are placed in an ultrasonic cleaner for 15 minutes, bagged and sterilized in a steam autoclave for 40 minutes. Sterilized indicators are present on every instrument bag.
  • Our dental handpieces are placed in heat sterilization between each patient.
  • The autoclave is monitored weekly by an in-office Biological Monitoring System. The results are recorded in an East Alabama Dental Group, LLC ledger.
  • All single-use patient items are disposed of after each treatment. This office uses preassembled sterile packs, which contain products for use only during your appointment. The protective barriers and disposables are used for your protection.

If you have any questions or concerns, we are happy to assist you. As always, your health is our primary concern.
